Morris
is the mascot of 2 of the clubs well known members Jim Brown and Brian
Johnstone. All 3 “bears” are tackling the La Croftterra Pandemonia, two
day classic sports car tour, at the start of September.
The mode of transport for the event is a 1971 MG
convertible loaned to the 3 from Pathhead Nurseries and there lies a
slight problem. All 3 don’t fit into the car with the roof up! Morris
explained that he fits in no problem but one of his co-competitors is a
bit larger and appears to be the route of the problem.
This problem is not going to stop them. The trio will
need to do the full journey with the roof down. The 2 day run is
500miles but as it starts in Fort William and ends in Inverness the
total distance is approx. 1000 miles. “Here is hoping the weather
changes for the better”, Morris says, “If not, 2 of us have a lot of fur
that is going to get very damp”.
So Morris why are you doing this? “Well Grandma bear
is poorly and along with many others relies on the support of MacMillan
Cancer Support. We are hoping to raise as much money as possible for
this worthwhile cause.”
Anyone wishing to support the “3 bears” and help them raise some money
can do so through the just giving website –
www.justgiving.com/morrisbear. Please remember to tick the giftaid
box too, that way you are helping even more at no extra cost.
As you will see from the images Morris has been
taking advice before heading off on his epic journey. He has been
getting tips from British and Scottish rally championship winner David
Bogie, chatted with the famous Jimmy McRae and even listened to the
natter of top motorsport journalist Jaggy Bunnet.
As well as raising money for
Macmillan Cancer Support Morris is hoping to make new friends along the
way. If you wish to follow Morris on his lead up to and during his
journey you can do so by friending him on his
very own facebook page –
